Frequently Asked Questions

DASH CAMS

How can an SD card get worn out?

An SD Card gets worn out when it goes through many read-write cycles, causing its performance to begin to degrade. As the SD Card goes through more and more of these cycles, you may notice errors occurring with greater frequency. Left unaddressed, these errors may seriously damage your SD Card. As such, we recommend you Format your SD Card every month to keep it in working order. (Please note: Formatting your SD Card will erase all data from the device, so ensure you have a backup before Formatting yours).

Why isn’t my Rear Camera working?

Please check that the connectors of the ends of the interconnecting cable are intact. If they are, then you may need a replacement interconnecting cable. Should the issue persist, then one of the units may be defective. If in your device is still covered by a  warranty and purchased directly from RS Connect, then please contact our team using the information below, and obtain an RMA document to begin the returns process.

How do I play a video recording from my Dash Cam?

BlackVue and RS Dash Cam recordings are saved in MP4 format so that you can easily play the recorded files using a general video player (PC, smartphone or navigation). RS Dash Cams allow you to view recordings either via the integrated LCD display or by connecting to a SmartPhone or via the Horson Viewer that can be downloaded onto a Windows PC or Mac OS Device. Blackvue Dash Cams allow you to view recordings by connecting to a SmartPhone or via the Blackvue Viewer that can be downloaded onto a Windows PC or Mac OS Device.

What are the options to enable Parking Mode features?

For the DC692 range of cameras, there is an optional Parking Mode Accessory that allows the camera to function whilst parked as it draws power from the main vehicle battery. The accessory prevents total battery discharge as well. For the Blackvue Cameras, the discharge protection function is integrated within the camera. Alternatively, you can use a secondary battery such as the NEO6 Battery Pack which provides power to the camera system when parked. The battery is re-charged whilst driving. By using this method means that the main vehicle battery is not used in Parking Mode.
